Prayers

Native American 10 Commandments

berries

The Earth is our Mother, care for her
Honour all your relations
Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit
All life is sacred: treat all beings with respect
Take from the earth what is need and nothing more
Do what needs to be done for the good of all
Give constant thanks to the Great Spirit for each new day
Speak the truth; but only of good in others
Follow the rythms of nature; rise and retire with the sun
Enjoy life's journey, but leave no tracks.

Old Muslim Prayer

angel

O Lord!
If I worship You from fear of hell
Let me burn in hell;
If I worship you hoping for Paradise,
exclude me from Paradise;
but if I worship You for Your own sake only.
do not withhold from me Your Eternal Beauty.

On the death of the Beloved

sky Though we need to weep your loss,
You dwell in that safe place in our hearts,
Where no storm or might or pain can reach you.

Your love was like the dawn
Brightening over our lives
Awakening beneath the dark
A further adventure of colour.

The sound of your voice
Found for us
A new music
That brightened everything.

Whatever you enfolded in your gaze
Quickened in the joy of its being;

Our haven and our hope

red-flowersYou are love,
You are wisdom.
You are humility,
You are endurance.
You are rest,
You are peace.
You are joy and gladness.
You are justice and moderation.
You are all our riches,
And you suffice for us.

You are beauty.
You are gentleness.
You are our protector,
You are our guardian and defender.
You are our  courage.
You are our haven and our hope.

You are our faith,
Our great consolation.
You are our eternal life,
Great and wonderful Lord,

God almighty,
Merciful Saviour.

Patron Saint Genevieve 3 January

church

Loving Saint Genevieve, fair patron Saint of Paris, lead us in your path of courage and valor.
May we fearlessly defend what is right and true, may we turn not away from the fear and anguish of others, but stand beside them as you did, and by your holy example help us to find eternal life among the warrior princes of the archangels, and all who serve God and this truth without reservation.

(G. Albert)

People are often illogical, unreasonable and self-centered

People are often illogical, unreasonable and self-centred. Forgive them anyway.
If your are kind. People may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway.
What you spend years building. Someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway.
The good you do today people will forget tomorrow. Be good anyway.
Give the world the best you've got, and it may never be enough. Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see in the final analysis it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

(Mother Teresa)
